What is DiversiKey?
The DiversiKey Certificate Program is designed to promote growth and experience in leadership and diversity. By attending events, workshops and other activities, and then submitting reflections afterward, participating students earn points toward completing the program requirements. As a certificate program, completing the requirements will earn you a notation on your trascript under the degrees awarded section, as well as an official certifcate to go along with your diploma.
Am I eligible to complete the DiversiKey Certificate Program?
All Purdue students with at least 4 semesters left in their degree programs are eligible. If you have fewer than 4 semesters left in your time here at Purdue, you may still be eligible and you should schedule a meeting with the coordinator for student diversity services to discuss this.
I recently signed up on the DiversiKey website; am I “officially in” DiversiKey now?
When you complete the online enrollment application, the information you submit is downloaded to our databases and your record is coded as “Active – Pending”. Once you meet with the coordinator for student diversity services, your record will be re-coded as “Active – In Progress”. It’s extremely important to meet with the coordinator before you begin attending events or submitting reflections.
I recently joined the DiversiKey group on GetInvolved; am I “officially in” DiversiKey now?
Possibly – but only if you have already submitted the online enrollment application found on the DiversiKey website (www.purdue.edu/DiversiKey). See the above question for more information.
I signed up for DiversiKey a long time ago; am I still in the program?
Once you submit the online enrollment form, you’ll stay in our databases. If you decide not to complete the certificate or you leave Purdue before you are able to complete the program, please email us so that we can re-code your record as “Active-On Hold” or “Inactive-Withdrawn”. If you decide later to start up with the program again, you will have to re-enroll, but you might be able to pick up where you left off.
Does DiversiKey cost anything?
No! The opportunity to complete the DiversiKey Certificate Program is provided free to all eligible Purdue students. However, there may be individual costs associated with the events and workshops you attend or the courses or study abroad programs you participate in. If you are concerned about incurring extra costs in completing the program schedule a meeting with the coordinator to discuss options for avoiding these.
I attended an event before I joined the program; can I submit a reflection form on it?
Generally speaking, no. The only exception we make is for courses or study abroad opportunities – if you will not be able to get those points later on in your time at Purdue. That said, once you are in the program for at least a semester, you will be able to submit reflections for events or programs from the previous semester. However – this is not recommended, since it is harder to write quality reflections after so much time.
I have another question that isn’t addressed here; can I email you?
Yes! Please feel free to contact the coordinator for student diversity services via email at any time.
